Tradition and innovation

18. Jun 2019
Rivella AG, Rothrist

Registration open

In addition to the well-known soft drink Rivella, the family-run company established in 1952 by Robert Barth owns the heritage fruit juice brand Michel and the exotic thirst-quencher Passaia. Rivella employs 250 people and sells around 100 million litres of beverages every year, more than a quarter of which goes abroad. The Group has a turnover of CHF 140 million. The Rivella Group's product range is constantly updated to meet consumers' changing needs. For example, 2018 saw the introduction of Rivella Refresh, a light-tasting variety with 40% less sugar. The company was awarded «Star of the Year» for the most successful product innovation in the consumer goods sector.
The heritage company adopts new approaches to build additional business segments. In 2018, a specific innovation platform for the development of new products and beverage concepts outside the existing brand range was set up for the Swiss market under the name of «Cin Cin». Based on the Silicon Valley model, the autonomous «Ideas Workshop» can experiment and also sustain any flops without damaging the Rivella parent brand.
